A couple of weeks ago, I received a telephone call from CA from: Robert WOORE 175 North McKelzy Avenue Clovis, CA 93611 E-Mail: gramabarb@aol.com He is looking for information on his ggf, Thomas RICHES/RITCHIE, who was shown as a seaman/sailor in the 1860 Census and as a LOCOMOTIVE ENGINEER IN THE 1870 Census. He was not found in 1830 or 1840. He went to Chicago at age 18 and d. there in 1901. He m. in Chicago, 1858. The 1900 Census shows that he was b. May 1832, probably in Haverstraw to immigrant parents, who were b. England. His father probably worked in the brick industry and may have been named Alexander. His first son, Alexander was b. 1859 in Chicago. Thomas' wife was Irish (name Birgit (later called Delia) Lawless). She was Catholic. Thomas is not believed to have been Catholic, but may have converted. Bob's g-m was Mary/May RICHES/RICHIE. She was bp. Holy Family, Chicago. Can anyone help with resources or information? Bob
