    1. [NYROCKLA] SEAMANS
    2. Gary James
    3. Hi! My name is Gary James and I am seeking any info I can find on a Hiram/Hirum B. Seamans/Seamons. Can someone help me please. I have been in the process of exploring all sources and tips I come across to find information on this person and a kind lady mentioned that she had seen the Seamans name mentioned in this forum. What I know (or don't know): Hiram Seamans, it is estimated, was born abt. 1829 in NY (he was 32 when he was mustered into service in 1861). His granddaughter said during an interview that she thought he was from around Elmira, NY (He was in the 26th Inf during the Civil War that was mustered in in Elmira, but the names of Orange(?) and Hurley(?) are mentioned as well). .... , that she thought he was a blacksmith in the Civil War and that he had a brother named William. --- I'm afraid that is about all we know about this man's early life. Apparently, somewhere between 1865 and 1878 he, and/or his family, migrated to Fayette Co., IA, as he married a Katherine Siglin on 18 Apr 1878 in Fayette Co., IA. Thanks in advance for any assist.
