    3. Marj, I assume that your SCHOFIELD family is the same as SCOFIELD, a family which settled early in MA, went to CT and spread out, west and south from there. First stop, try this incredible database. The URL is: http://rmeservy.byu.edu/pafhtml/Scofield/index.html Your DENIGHT may be derived from DENIKE, a Rockland Co family. It, in turn, was derived from Ten EYCK, also found in Rockland, but originating I the early Dutch Colonial period in Albany, and later spreading south from there. It is also found as ten Eyk and ten Ek. Some branches of the Ten Eyck and SCHOFIELD families were probably Loyalists who went to Canada after the American Revolution. Many Loyalist families returned to the US in later generations, seeking better economic opportunities. My ancestor Sarah SCHOFIELD SEELY, was descended from SEELY Loyalists, and perhaps SCHOFIELDs, who were not Loyalists (at least in this line), but SCHOFIELD cousins definitely were. My ancestor's line was in St John, New Brunswick from 1783 until bout 1851. Bob Protzmann
