Do you think it will be worth my while to become a member of the society even though I live in Florida? My main problem seems to be my ancestors either didn't know when they were born or didn't care about dates. Everything gives a different age/birth date for my ancestors. It's driving me crazy. I really don't know when they died either, just have to do an estimate from when they last appeared on the census so I wish I coud do a search online to get a date. I have obtained some from Clerk's offices of towns within the County. For example, I contacted Orangetown Town Clerk with date of death of my grandmother in 1919 and was told the cost. Sent in a check and the information I had and received a copy of the certificate indicating she died in Palisades. For my grandfather, 1910, same thing and found he died in Sparkill. Another great source for this information is the Genealogical Society of Rockland County. I joined ( and renew annually) and they sent me a lot of information about my family in Rockland County.
