She was the widow of Timothy Henley. They were both born in Ireland. In 1895 she "removed to Nyack, New York." She had Kane relatives who lived in that area. I know that she had two brothers, Charles and William T. Kane. She had cousins Ginny and John Kane. I am looking for the burial of Mary and also need the date of death. I have been unable to find this information online and have not been able to visit the area to research. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: jmenardkent Surnames: Carney Canney Camey Classification: lookup Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.rockland/3634/mb.ashx Message Board Post: On my grandfather's death certificate the surname of the informant is difficult to discern. The given name is clearly Edward D. with the surname listed as either Carney, Canney, or Camey. His address is listed in 1968 as 25 Ann Blvd. Spring Valley, New York. My request is for a city directory look up to confirm the last name. Edward is also listed as Executor as his relation to the deceased. My theory is he may have been an attorney rather than a family friend or relative. And I am interested in any evidence confirming this fact. My grandfather was estranged from the family for 30 years prior to his death. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [NYROCKLA] Ramapo Baskets
    2. Janice Hesselink
    3. I have been a member of both the RCHS and RCGS for a number of years and have been researching CONKLIN, STARR, YOUMANS families. The older I get the more interested I am in seeing and/or owning a Ramapo Basket. In my research I have found that my Conklin ancestors were basket and wooden ladle makers. I know that Mr. Margolis used to sell them at his store. I have inquired a few people whether they knew how I could find one, but none that I asked knew. Would there be a way to put this in a "query" in your next Newsletter? I would love to purchase an old Ramapo basket (especially if it was made by a Conklin). Perhaps you can give me a suggestion. Thank you. Janice Conklin Hesselink

Since it was a state run facility, you might want to try OPWDD [Office of People with Developmental Disabilities] in Albany. They do have a website: OPWDD.org which has contact information. It was not uncommon for people who did not have a disability to be placed there during the time frame you mention, mostly due to a misdiagnosis and financial difficulties of the family. Good luck. 1. [NYROCKLA] Heirs of Richard and John Osborn
    2. I was looking at an old map of the Kakiat Patent and compared mileage to what my James Osborn wrote about living 11 miles from the Hudson River and found that 11 miles fell just about in the lands assigned to the heirs of Richard and John Osborn. They were N, 60 degrees West( ?) I didn't see the degrees north. At the south east corner was Jonas Wood Tree. Also on the east and the south was the land of John Young. I would assume that my James descended from either John or Richard Osborn. This map was from the History of Rockland County , NY. Edited by Rev. David Cole, D.D. Historical Society of Rockland County New City, New York 1986. It follows page 142. Now we just need to find out who John and Richard Osborn were. Were they brothers? When were they born and who were their children? Is this the John who died in 1770 or was it an ancestor of his? Connie Maguire cmaguire54@aol.com

    1. [NYROCKLA] John Osborn's will 1770
    2. In answer to Frank Van Orden's question about John Osborn's wife. The only information I have is that John Osborn's wife mentioned in his will of 1770, was named Ann. This may or may not have been his only wife. There was no Annatje mentioned as one of his children. The will mentions wife Ann, children: James, John, Hannah, Mary, Elizabeth, Phoebe, Sarah, Rachel, Martha and Nancy. Interesting though that John who married Elizabeth Debaun had a child Annatje b 1740 married Hendrick Young and their son Jacobus b 1774(same year as my James Osborn 2) married an Elizabeth Osborn. That is what I've found in my Osborn research.

    3. That tallies with my research. The two generations of would seem to indicate a closeness between families, possibly geographic, like adjacent farms perhaps. Tracing the Osborns is like trying to solve a jigsaw puzzle. Thanks for the input. If he had a social security number, wich he probably did, you could check the SSDI--it would say where the last check was sent, and the month and year of death.  The exact date is sometimes given as is the date of birth.   Barbara L. de Mare, Esq.
