    3. Bertie, I would love to have the information that you have on the DECLARKs of Rockland Co, NY, for the inclusin in the files of the Genealogical Society of Rockland Co. Can you share some or all of it with us? Bob Protzmann Bhhoch55@aol.com Mon 9/14/98 11:37 AM NYROCKLA-L@rootsweb.com Fwd: Rockland County Query - Richard DeClark I have lots of DECLARK's born in Rockland County. I do not find a Richard of the time frame you mentioned. Have you checked the book, "Daniel DeClark and His Descendants"? Perhaps, it was a typo and you are looking for CLARK rather than DeCLARK. My great grandfather was James DeCLARK, born 1840 in Piermont. Bertie

I was wondering if anyone who is familiar with the area could tell me where the Maple Grove cemetery is located in Hempstead? Also, the Ramapo cemetery in Ramapo? I believe some of my QUACKENBUSH ancestors are buried there. Thanks for your help. Laurie Byrd navy81@flash.net

    3. September 13, 1998 Dolores Clark Kahl dmk@ipass.net Would like any information on a Richard D. Clark born ca 1823 in Piermont. I believe he married an Elmira (would like to obtain her maiden name). They had 9 children, Esther A., Elmira, Henry, David, James, William, Edward, Minnie and Charles. I am interested in finding the name of his father and mother and also the name of Elmira's father and mother. Was Richard D. Clark the son of Richard D. Clark, Sr. who was born in Bergen County, NJ in 1781? He married (1) Margrietje Sarvent in 1802 and had 3 children Vroute, Caty, Maria. Married again to Maria Parsell on March 27, 1822 at Hackensack.

There are many John SIDMANs and Mary SIDMANs listed in the index. This family originates with Lt George Sydenham, who came from England with the British Army during the 1600s. 3. I've archived and indexed all but the last two weeks' of queries at http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyrockla/rcquery.htm#BMINDEX . If you haven't looked over that query index in a few months, check it out. I made a Web page out of Laurie Byrd's cemetery list. It can be found at http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyrockla/GSRC/rccem.htm . Additions and corrections are most welcome. I added a couple of links re: the National Archives Space Plan to the main GSRC page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyrockla/GSRC/index.htm#news Finally, I cleaned up the main RC GenWeb page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyrockla/ and the links page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyrockla/rclinks.htm Within a few months we are likely to have 1892 Rockland Co. NY State Census for Rockland online, thanks to volunteers at GSRC and RootsWeb. Your comments and suggestions are most welcome! You might also want to take a look at some of the other counties under http://www.rootsweb.com/~nygenweb/ for ideas. 3. I have an abstract from the DAR files for a rejected pension for Samuel W. COE(Junior), born 2 Apr 1760, died 20 Jan 1822. His wife Elizabeth, nee DUSENBERRE, applied for a widow's pension 22 June 1855. She states that they were married in Hempstead, Rockland County (Orange) NY 10 Sep 1786. Abstract contains list of children and birth dates. A note at the end states that "Mrs. Daniel JOHNSON" a resident of Rockland, Rockland County, a daughter, provided the Bible record. Samuel's daughters were Phebe, Catherine, Sarah, Elizabeth and Abigail. Which one was "Mrs. Johnson?"

    1. Genie Angels lookup service
    2. Bruce Hamilton
    3. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Flats/6878/ describes a "Genie Angels" lookup service. People volunteer to copy *specific* documents. The requestor pays postage and copying costs. If you live in Rockland Co., please consider volunteering for this. Please note, you would NOT be doing research, just copying specific documents. You could specify what libraries or other sources you have available. :-) p.s. if anybody out there ever gets to Finkelstein Memorial Library in Spring Valley, I'd love to get a copy of any death notice or obit for my g-g-g-gmother Isabella Rennie Gilchrist Hamilton d. 9 Oct 1895 in Monsey. When I was at the New City Library a year ago, they appeared to be missing that reel for the Nyack Journal (or whatever the Journal-News predecessor was called at that time). I don't have any exact citation, but presumably something could be found with just a couple of minutes of cranking the film. I think New City and Finkelstein are the only libraries that have it, and there's no way I'd be able to get it on interlibrary loan. Thanks, --Bruce (Bruce Hamilton, Redondo Beach, CA) bhami@netcom.com http://home.earthlink.net/~bhami/

If possible, please give a full source citation, including newspaper name, date, and page number. It would be GREAT if somebody in RC who gets the Journal-News would be willing to volunteer to index its obits on an ongoing basis for the Obituary Daily Times.
