    1. Homer Wightman
    2. Wightman
    3. Hi, I am new to this list, but not mailing lists in general. I am desperately seeking information on a Homer WIGHTMAN. I have a Wightman Ancestry book that says "He is said to be a teacher filling positions in Nyack and elsewhere in the vicinity of New York City." His wife's first name as far as I know was Belle. He should have two children also. I know by his father's obituary that in 1915 he was supernatant of schools in Altoona, PA. This Wightman Ancestry book would have come out around 1935. I am doing a Wightman genealogy and will be running this off in about 2 weeks. So I need this information as soon as possible. Any information on this family will be of help. EM Wightman

    2. matthew waite
    3. November 1, 1998 Matthew Waite mlwaite@yahoo.com I'm looking for the birth certificate of Fredrick Crawford Wait, born in Nyack between 1885-1890. I am his great grandson. If I could get his birthday, mother and father's names and where they were from and any other information. Fredrick added the "e" to Wait after a family "feud", thus the spelling of my last name, Waite. Thank You for you help. Matthew Waite 6116 Willowgrove Lane Cupertino, CA 95014 P.S. I sent this note yesterday also but got an error message. Sorry if you got it twice. _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? 1. Rockland Co.Query - McGrath
    2. Only information I have on my great-grandmother, Margaret McGrath, is that she was Irish Catholic & came from Haverstraw. Time frame would be circa 1860-1880. Would like to obtain names & addresses of Catholic churches in Haverstraw so I can contact them. Margaret was possibly born on British ship during crossing, or possibly born in Haverstraw. Are any town directories available for that time frame and if so, where can I find them. Please post comments to boards. E-mail blocked for childrens sake. Thanks for any help. debbiea282@aol.com

    1. Trouble finding death certificate
    2. Bruce Hamilton
    3. Summit Park Cemetery records show my g-g-g-gmother Isabella Rennie Gilchrist Hamilton d. Wed. 9 Oct 1895 in Monsey, buried 12 Oct 1895, P. S. Van Orden, undertakers. Wed. 9 Oct 1895 in Monsey is confirmed by a death notice under "Monsey" in the Nyack Evening Journal, 11 Oct 1895. However, neither the NY State Dept. of Health nor the Ramapo Town Clerk (with whom I just spoke) has any death record. Thanks for any ideas. Would the P. S. Van Orden records be archived anywhere? Ultimately, I'm looking for proof of Isabella's parents' names. Thanks, --Bruce (Bruce Hamilton, Redondo Beach, CA) bhami@netcom.com http://home.earthlink.net/~bhami/

All research has ended at George, Sr. and I would really need to get the names of his parents and any other pertinent info in order to go on. Can anyone help?

    1. Rockland Catholic Churches
    2. I have been trying to find out which Catholic Churches my family might have gone to in Rockland County between 1860 and 1880. They lived in Pierpoint, Pearl River, and possibly Blauvelt during this period. We have checked the records at St. John's Catholic Church in Piermont - nothing there. St. Catherine's Parish in Blauvelt tells me there is no record of my family there either. Any other ideas? Family names NASH (NEUSCH) and FISHER. Jill from Minnesota

    1. HARING FAMILY
    2. Joan Brooks
    3. Chris, I have Firth Haring Fabend's book, "A Dutch Family in the Middle Colonies, 1660-1800." It is really not a genealogy, but reads very well about the Haring family living in the New York/New Jersey area. It does have a list of male descendants of John Pietersen Haring through the 5th generation in the appendix and also talks about some of their wills. The book is published by Rutgers University Press, 109 Church Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901. It is possible that our local historical society has it for sale also. Their address is: The Historical Society of Rockland County, 20 Zukor Rd, New City, NY 10956. Tel: (914) 634-9629. My husband is descended from J. P. Haring also, but I haven't followed the line down through your Peter. My husband also has 2 or 3 Smith lines in Rockland County, but I can't find Elwilda Smith in my database. Do you know her parents? If you wish, I can send you, in an e-mail, my descendant chart so far for J. P. Haring. Just let me know. Good luck! Sincerely, Joan Brooks Stony Point, NY
