I am researching the BELL family from Germany. George Wilhelm Bell and Marytjen Regtmeyer probably did not come to the US. I would like information on their sons: Hendrick, Hermanus, Christopher/Stoffel, William and John, and their daughters Margaret (who m. Abraham Conklin) and Marytjen. If anyone out there has information or has seen information on this family, I would like to hear from you. I will be most appreciative of any information or suggestions for research that you might have. Thank you, Bob Leishman, Arvada, CO
Thank you to Dorothy for suggestions as to where to look for Naturalization Papers. Thank you to Les for doing a look up. Thank you Joan for offering to do a look up. Your kindness is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Carol
Sorry, hit the wrong button. I'm trying to track down any type of information on my greatgrandparents and my grandfathers siblings. From what I've been told by my father that all seemed to have spelled their last names differently and it's making the search very difficult. If any of the following sounds familar to anyone please contact me. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. 1. Anthony (Antoni) Skabowski b.Poland d. NY married Antonette ? b. Poland d. NY summer of 1957 (family supposedly had a farm somewhere in Upstate NY) Children: Tess, Margie, Estelle, Joseph(Josef,Jozef),Steven(Stephen,Stefen),Ann Jean, Frances(is), and Stanley (my grandfather) I know that Stanley was born 2/3/1903 in Jersey City, NJ. Don't know anything about any of the other children. My grandfather changed the spelling of his last name so not sure what to ask for when i try and request a birth certificate. Stanley was a policeman who used to walk the beat according to my father. My father says that all the little children used to call him Uncle Stanley. My grandfather died 6/3/1960 in Brooklyn and is buried at St. John's in Middle Village. Stanley married 11/29/1923 to Florence Louise Bolchon b. 8/15/1904 in Brooklyn,NY d. 3/25/1995 in Millville,NJ. Stanley and Florence had 3 children, Richard, Stanley(my father) and Claire. What I'm really hoping for is that someone will recognize these names and either know something or someone who does. Never know, maybe a relative of grandfathers siblings. Any help appreciated. Fellow Members: Being from Nova Scotia I am not that familiar with New York state and to find an ancestor of mind I need to know of a particular rural area that was known for its farming industry in the 1930's and the name begins with the letter " R ". Do any of you know the area? Thank you in advance for your reply. Wayne Kennedy Halifax, Nova Scotia

Yes, there is a Nyack Hospital. I think Journal News is the newspaper. My husband grew up in Nyack, and his mother worked at the hospital. Ruth (Schmitz) Cherecwich Researching: Junge, Munn, Tanges (Toenges) in Rockland County.
Hello, I am new to the list and would like to know if any one knows if there is a Nyack Hospital or was in 1934,as well as what newspapers were around at that time. I am trying to locate the place of death for my gr grandfather who died from being totally burned in an accident caused by and explosion at his work at the Colonial Powder Company someplace between Orangeburg and Nyack,NY. He died on Sept 17,1934 after being in this Hospital since Sept 12th 1934 when the powder shed exploded ,he was dragged out but his entire body was burned and the funeral home says Nyack Hospital. I live in Tucson Az and could use any leads to the Hospial / and the newspaper of that time. Thank you all very much for your kindness, JoAnne (Oberle) Mika Tucson Az
Carol, You had the correct address for St. Ann's Church: 16 Jefferson Street, Nyack, NY 914-358-4707 St Ann's School is shown at" 33 Jefferson Street, Nyack, NY 914-358-0125 St Ann's School of Religion is at the same address, but they show another Number: 914-358-3758. My wife runs a Girl Scout troop there. She's says they are a little confused there. They are apparently short staffed. It often helps, when writing to a church, to send a small donation, to thank them, in advance, for their efforts. Bob Protzmann

Someone at Utahn1@aol.com asked ... >Is Nauraushaun a section of Pearl River in Rockland County? The simple answer is "Yes." Nauraushaun was located within what is now called Pearl River in the Town of Orangetown. It lay along the Hackensack River mostly in what is now known locally as Orangeville, a neighborhood without a post office and hence no modern identity. The name Nauraushaun endures in Nauraushaun Brook, a tributary of the Hackensack, and in the names of three Nauraushaun Avenues, West, East, and South. And some of the pre-revolutionary houses of the original residents of the community still stand. Best regards, Kelvin Kean Elverson, Pennsylvania
Does anyone know where or who might have possesion of the "Turnure Family Bible", the source I am working from says R. F. Turnure, Sr. has possesion of it ( around 1977 ? ) Thanks for your help, Donna.
