I am looking for any information on my gr-gr-grandfather David Hollenbeck (m. Mary Bush). My understanding is that he lived in Sloatsburg and had a general store around 1900. His granddaughter remembers her mother telling the story of sitting on the steps of the store waiting for her parents to come pick her up. I've been told the store is no longer there. Does anyone have any information about the location of the store and its owners? Donna in Michigan de_mead@cac.net MEAD, HOLLENBECK, VAN KLEECK, GRIFFIN, BUSH, GEROW, SMITH, BODLEY, DUNCAN

Joan, I believe that the information that Jane Adams Coney was buried in the Queensboro Cemetery came from: The History of the Coney Family by Mary Lovering Holman. The letter has this to say: "Mary Lovering Holman who wrote the history of the Coney Family has made authentic the Data and information my sister, Mrs. Willard Howell of Washington, gave of Capt. Oliver Coney and his wife Mary as dates, family names, etc. coincide with her dates and she felt that she had found the "missing branch" of the family." The part in the previous message that started with The Original New Bruynswick Church was intended to be a quote also. That part ended with and is buried in the churchyard is the end of the quote. Diane, I have some information on the family of Mary Coney and John Brooks, but wasn't aware of who her parents were. Queensboro is now a "Vanished Hamlet" that existed near the Route 6 Traffic Circle, off the Palisades Parkway. There is a well-kept cemetery to the right of the circle. According to the 1982 transcript that I have, there are mostly Weyant's and Brookses there, in particular Harvey Brooks who lived at Queensboro. His wife was Alice Weyant. Queensboro is actually in Orange County, just over the border of Rockland County, near Stony Point. There are probably many unmarked graves in that cemetery; however, no Jane Adams Coney is listed as being buried there. Diane, I believe that you're talking about Rockland County. A little to the nortwest of Stony Point is Queensboro Traffic Circle at the intersection of Rt 6 and the Palisades Interstate Parkway. I suspect that before the creation of the park, that there was a village of Queensboro nearby. There is an ancient cemetery there, either within the traffic circle, or adjacent to it. The JOHNSON and BROOKS names are familiar in this area of Rocklland Co. Hi Rockland Co. List! I am hopping that someone has information on my family. I am researching two sets of Mann/DeGROATs. 1st SET: Samuel Mann married Rachel DeGroat (b. abt. 1824). They had 11 children & 3 of them are known to me: Manning (b. 1854), Amsey (b. 1858) & John (b. 1855) who married Mildred Smith (b. 1861) they had 7 children: Lucinda (b. 1880), Harriet (b. 1882), Anna Mary (b. 1883), Samuel (b. 1885), Amy (abt. 1891), John Jr (b. 1896) & Spencer (b. 1878) who married Mary Mann (b. 1886 same surname) 2nd SET: Mary Mann's parents are, Father: Silas Mann & Mother: Effie DeGroot (b. abt. 1859). Every document that I have indicates place of birth in NY (I wish I knew where). Depending who took the census this family's race was Black, Mulatto & White. I have located my family from 1880 thru 1920 (Hillsdale, NJ Berg. Co.) federal census and no luck with 1870 in NJ. Rachel Mann was listed as a Wid. in the 1880 census and Effie Mann was listed as a Wid. in the 1910 census. Some suggest that I could be part of the ramapo mountain clan but I cannot put a connection as of yet. I feel like I hit rock bottom for about a year and half now with these surnames. Does anyone have any information or suggestions? I appreciate your thoughts, Chris

Dear Folks, I would like to modify my original offer to send information from the deeds that I have abstracted on those families to sending you copies of the abstracts by mail. I have spent the day going thru them and believe that it will be easier for me to mail them to you and it will be more beneficial for you to see the lot of them. (and that includes the JACKSON information, although I did not transcribe any Jackson deeds, they are mentioned as witnesses or neighbors in many of the deeds that I have. The time span is for approximately 100 years starting early 1700s. Phoebe So please send me your address and I'll get you some copies, Phoebe P.S. Dear Caroline, I am trying to prove/disprove Ruth Coe married John Carpenter in Jamaica, LI and moved to Goshen or at least Orange Co New York. I know that this information is not in the Robert Coe, Puritan book. What I would like to ask you is if you know how or if the Coes are related to the Johnsons and if these Johnsons are from or were related to the NJ Johnsons. Conrad and Julianna May Wyble originally came from Ringwood/Long Pond New Jersey and settled in Orange County around 1786. RingWood/Long Pond sits on the border of NY and NJ. They with their children appear in the 1790 and 1800 census the later in the township of Cheesecock. Conrad nor Julianna after that date are not found but their son Charles appears in the 1810 census in Rockland County. Rockland County was a part of Orange County till 1798. I have been searching for information by tracking thier travels on Conrad and Charles for the past 9 years but have not found Conrad after 1800. Any help someone can provide will be appreciated. Thank you for your time: Dave Wyble Sr.
