    3. I am searching for the ERICKSON family who lived in Doodletown around 1910. I was wondering if there is any local, state census for that area in that year. Or can someone check the 1900 census for the TERICKSON family in this area. The parents were Neta and Nicholas Erickson and children were Ethel, Walter, Arthur, Nettie and Lillina born in 1910. The other children were older and may show up on census if the parents are there. Thanks so much Cindy NYROCKLA-D-request@rootsweb.com wrote: > Subject: > > NYROCKLA-D Digest Volume 00 : Issue 24 > > Today's Topics: > #1 [NYROCKLA] Henry Aubin Southfield ["kevin and rika" <kevrik@shaka.com] > > Administrivia: > To unsubscribe from NYROCKLA-D, send a message to > > NYROCKLA-D-request@rootsweb.com > > that contains in the body of the message the command > > unsubscribe > > and no other text. 2. Gary James
    3. Hi! My name is Gary James and I am seeking any info I can find on a Hiram/Hirum B. Seamans/Seamons. Can someone help me please. I have been in the process of exploring all sources and tips I come across to find information on this person and a kind lady mentioned that she had seen the Seamans name mentioned in this forum. What I know (or don't know): Hiram Seamans, it is estimated, was born abt. 1829 in NY (he was 32 when he was mustered into service in 1861). His granddaughter said during an interview that she thought he was from around Elmira, NY (He was in the 26th Inf during the Civil War that was mustered in in Elmira, but the names of Orange(?) and Hurley(?) are mentioned as well). .... , that she thought he was a blacksmith in the Civil War and that he had a brother named William. --- I'm afraid that is about all we know about this man's early life. Apparently, somewhere between 1865 and 1878 he, and/or his family, migrated to Fayette Co., IA, as he married a Katherine Siglin on 18 Apr 1878 in Fayette Co., IA. Thanks in advance for any assist. 3. Hi everyone, I'm new to the list, and delighted to find it exists. I'm trying to discover the origins of the name Chestnut Ridge, which seems to have belonged to Route 45 across the state line, in Bergen County, before it belonged to the village now so-called. Does anybody know the history of chestnut trees in the area, which ridge was the chestnut ridge, and when the expression first came into use? Many thanks, Terri

    3. Debbie, St Peters Cemetery is on Rt 9W, in Haverstraw, adjacent to Mt Repose. It is a fairly large cemetery, but one can see the entire cemetery from the highway. One could probably drive all the roads in about 15 minutes. Finding a tombstone or family plot would take more time, but it's probably worth a visit. Bob Protzmann

    2. Hi list, Its been a while since I posted so I will try again. I am researching FAGAN's and HECKMAN's from Haverstraw, Stony Point, Grassy Point. I have finally received the death certificate of my gr gr grandmother from the Dept. of Vital Records in NY. Took only 7 months! I know now that my Fagan's are buried in St. Peters Cemetery in Haverstraw. I have wrote to St. Peters and received no reply from them. Has anyone had any experience with St. Peters in researching? Would it be best for me to call them? I will also be in CT in April and have thought about driving up to NY for the day. How big is St. Peters? Would I be looking for a needle in a haystack? Any help or recommendation would be appreciated. Thank you Debbie - South Carolina

    1. [NYROCKLA] Extractions of some early Orange Co. deeds Vol E and F
    2. Dear Folks, I earlier posted my extractions of Vol C and D to the Orange, Ulster, and Rockland Co. lists. It has occurred to me that so many Orange Co. folks went to Onondaga and Yates Co. that it might be helpful for folks trying to find their earlier origins. Please note, that I cannot vouch for the accuracy of the spelling of the names or places, for many reasons, including difficulty of reading and my unfamiliarity with same. The (m) means the deed was signed by mark. Any names listed as grantor, grantee, borders - neighbors, former owners, etc., plus witnesses and judges that I could read were included. Yate and Onondaga Co. folks please let me know if you would like to see Vol C and D. Phoebe Please note that there were many, many other deeds.
