    1. [NYROCKLA] Re; Valentine Hewlett PETERS abt. 1716 to 1786
    2. Tom Hart
    3. I am looking for info/connections to Valentine Hewlett PETERS. He lived in Hempstead, NY and had approx. 10 children. A few of his children moved to eastern Canada in the late 1700's and my family is descendant from his oldest son, James. I am looking for info re Valentine Peters origins and possible contacts with his descendants who remained in the U.S. His oldest daughter, Miriam, married, in 1763, a Dr. Adam Seabury. Another daughter, Rebekah Sarah, married a Dr. Wm. Treadwell and had 6 children so I thought some of her descendants are still in NY. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. 3. Victoria, Mount Repose is a non-sectarian cemetery. I would expect that most burials would be of Protestants, though Catholics and Jews could also be buried there. Adjoing Mount Repose, on the South is St. Peter's RC Cemetery. At the Northwest corner is a small Jewish Cemetery. 2. Hi Judith and Patrick: I have a picture taken in front of the Jackman's Shoe Factory in Nyack in 1886. It lists some of the men in the picture. One of them is a C. DeGroat. Could this be a relation of yours? This picture was published in 1931. They wanted to know the names of the nine men in the picture that they didn't name. One of nine was my grandfather Albert Stoothoff. I hope this will help you with an occupation for a relative. Bernice

    3. I have a death cert for my ggf, which lists his town of birth. It is very illegible, even after enlarging it many times. Is there a list of NY municipalities from around 1840 that I can check it against? I can make out only the last few letters. 3. Victoria, I have found Couch in Sullivan County, the vicinity of Thompson in the 1870 census, specifically Daniel, Stephen and Samuel(all separate households). I will look out for George. A Melvin Couch of Monticello,Sull. Co was my 3 & 2 ggrandparents solicitor. I believe there was some sort of family connection-perhaps through the Barnums or Strattons. One of the granduncles was living with Friend Couch at some point. Marla Kaste marvak@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send online invitations with Yahoo!
