I was wondering if you ever sent in a marriage request to the NJ Archives for James J and Harriet. Isn't their marraige date August 13, 1848 in Paterson? If so, the NJ State Archives will probably have this info. The cost is $10.00. I have received marriage check responses from them and they are pretty thorough. You can also try the 1850 census in Rockland County. Do you have any NJ Archives Search request forms?

MY mother, during the 1950's was driving down route (I think) 306 toward Brick Church cemetery and there was a stone wall around the cemetery and she said that her grandmother was buried just outside the wall (rt 59) side and the old graves were unmarked since they used wood. I do not know if she really knew this as a fact but it is work call Brick Church about it or a letter. tensone1

I grew up in Rockland County, and lived there for a good portion of my adult life. There is a very old cemetery in the Town of Ramapo, called the Brick Church Cemetery -- and it is near Hempstead Road. I believe that it dates back to the Revolutionary War era (or before), although it was still in use several years ago. In fact, my father-in-law was buried there about 10 years ago. Moved to Hamilton, N.J., Monmouth County. Was a minister and farmer. He built a church at Hamilton N.J. He was a man of great ability and pioneered in the developement (sic) of Monmouth County. He also had a store, blacksmith shop, sawmill and farm. He married Mary Eskipp and had 7 children." Mr. Greener, on his page 3, wrote of Jonathan's supposed father, "JONATHAN YEOMANS (Solomon, Solomon, Christopher) was a carpenter. Lived in Haverstraw. Had 10 children. His youngest son, Ezekial (sic), born 1781, was father of Wilson Drake Youmans I, born 1822." Any ideas how proving my Jonathan's relationship to the early Youmans/Yeomans of Haverstraw area are greatly appreciated! Suzanne
In response to the rural cemetery; It was called Nyack Rural Cemetery. Was located in West Nyack at the time it was established in the mid 19th Century and is geographically located in Central Nyack today. The records of the cemetery are very sketchy, but Dick Peterson has been trying to put them together using whatever means he can. If those you are looking for are on record, he would know. repete290@Juno.com
