Also do an advanced google search and tell it to omit fifers - a goodly number of the Doodletown items will relate to "Birding" in the area. We are interested in the Rose family in Rockland County and our preliminary research is on file at the Rockland Room at the New City Library dating from Jan. 1993. The Roses in northern Rockland were probably mostly descendants of Jacob Rose (approx 1740 to 1803) who had seven sons. Each of them had 5-10 children. The place populated up fast. The eldest also named Jacob (approx 1770 to 1859) and a number of others were named Jacob. Mary Rose born about 1810 (I cannot recall her parentage right now) appears to have been married to George Weiant. they may have lived up that way. Ruben Brown Ruben Brown

You guys are really on top of things. I've only gotten back to the 1850 Census but think that I'm right on target. I also received your email off the boards. The answer that I posted has everything that I currently know about the lineage. I'm doing this for someone that is in my husbands lineage. It's a sad story and so I told them I'd look up a few things. Now, I would love some confirmation on my findings. Well, it's early in the morning in Texas where I live and no coffee yet!!! I believe that I may be researching your family. The surname is Barton and in working my way back from the 1930 Census I was getting the guys more defined by using the WW1 Draft Registrations because I could get an exact birth date and more information. I was quite puzzled when I came up with a Daniel Call Barton. As I'm sure that you will agree... this isn't the most common middle name in the world. Well, still working my way back in time and I ran upon a "Call" on the same page with the Barton family. I was pretty sure that I was on to something. Then, when I found James and Mary Barton in Samuel's household in the 1850 I knew why one of their grandsons ended up with the name. I am researching for another family member so I'm not the direct descendant but would like further information and will be happy to share... thanks again, deb---
I am currently researching my great x3 grandfather, John SNIDER, you came from New York state sometime in the early 1790s and lived in Adolphustown until 1809, when he purchased a lot in Ameliasburg, Prince Edward Co, Ontario, Canada. His wife was a Jannetje QUACKENBOSCH, and they were married in Tappan, Rockland Co, New York, in 1792. John is listed on the 2nd Regiment Prince Edward County, Ontario Militia 1822 along with several of his sons. His youngest son, David, my g x2 grandfather, was born abt 1815, and appears to have had a different mother than many of his siblings.I have found several references to there being half-siblings but I am unable to find any record of a second marriage for John. It would seem that David's mother was not the Jannetje QUACKENBOSCH, because she would have been abt. 47 years of age at the time of David's birth. I am wondering if John married a second time in Rockland County before coming to Adolphustown, Ontario, Canada. I am also trying to find John's parents ... Hendrick SNYDER married to Sarah LAKEmight be a possibility but I can't find a birth record for John listing his parents. Any help, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
