New York in the 1850 census. Henry lists that he was born in 1807 in New Jersey. They had four or five daughters. The youngest in 1850 was Henrietta, who I believe was my great grandmother. The family disapeared from Census by 1860. Have heard that there was a fire and several people in Davenport/ Deavenport family died. I have been told there is a huge monument for them in a cementary some where in Rockland Co. Please can anyone help me confirm this? Henrietta was found in Peoria C. ILL in 1860 census and married in 1864 to a James McClean. She later married two more times in Iowa. Thank you, Mary McConnell

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YUB.2ACI/2054.1 Message Board Post: There was a Mary Smith (prob. b abt 1790) who married a James Gurnee and had several children. Her father Edward's probate file in 1842 mentioned only her children that stayed in Rockland: Levi, Frances, Rebecca and Anna. Her children that followed their "father out west" were cut out of the will. Many people from Rockland county went to Wayne county NY, often before going even further "west". I tend to think that the previously mentioned Mary & James were the same Mary (age 63) & James F Gurnee (66) in the 1850 census for Huron, Wayne co, NY w/ John Gurnee (20) and Mary Conklin (18) and David Conklin (8). I assume that John was a son and the Conklins were grandchildren (dau Anna had married a John J Conklin). I once corresponded w/ another researcher whose Michigan ancestors decended from Anna & John Conklin).

Since the Rev. was minister of this Church at that time, it seems reasonable his children born during his ministry there would have been baptized there? Many thanks. I have been researching the Forshay family for a long, long time, and always hit a stumbling block. My great great grandfather (Richard) Walter Limbert, b. in NYC in the 1830's married a Hannah Marie Forshay in NYC around 1850 and had my great grandfather Benjamin Franklin Limbert in 1859. In trying to trace the Forshay leg of the family, I find Hannah was the daughter of Abraham b. in NJ in 1813, d. 1862 in NYC and his wife Maria Antoinette Sands, b. NYC in 1819. Abraham's father was supposedly another Abraham who was born in 1794 in Paramus NJ and his mother was Hannah Ackerson b. 1789; however, I can't find any record of their marriage in any of the churches in Bergen County NJ; this Abraham's father was supposed Abram Forshee who was born in Paramus in 1761 and died in Saddle River NJ (I found his gravestone there) whoch was married to Elizabeth DeBaun, b 1766 in Paramus. Do you have any of this information in your family Bible? I would greatly appreciate it if you could share whatever information you have about the family, as I have hit a dead end. There were many Forshays in Viola, NY (where I visited) but I don't know where my Forshays fit in with them.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YUB.2ACI/2066 Message Board Post: I recently found a Rockland Cty Deed from March 1858 where 75 acres in Haverstraw is being conveyed to Abraham Welch and his sister Harriet Welch Armstrong. The deed says that Peter DeNoyelles purchased the land from Baxter June,Jr. in 1827 to be held "in trust for Mary Welch, wife of John Welch of Haverstraw during her natural life and after her decease to be conveyed to Harriet and Abraham Welch, daughter and son of Mary". Mary supposedly died in March of 1858 and the executor of Peter DeNoyelles estate is conveying the land according to the terms of the trust. Question - Does anyone know what the connection is between Peter DeNoyelles and Mary Welch (also spelled Welsh or Walsh). Mary is in my line and I am trying to figure out her parents. Her dates are estimated as 1783-1858. Could Peter be her father or brother? Does anyone have the names of the children of Peter DeNoyelles? Somewhere I read that he had 12 children. Thanks - Barb
