    3. I am a Blauvelt descendent (and Van Houten), if you want I'll get the information for you from my Blauvelt books. If Sarah's last name was Smith, we are looking at the same branch. There may be others, but that's what I saw with a quick glance. As for the gift, I live in West Nyack about 2 miles from the Nanuet Cemetery. Some of the information I got from the book and about 8 of them I got from walking the cemetery. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Don Secor Sent: Tuesday, October 31, 2006 8:59 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [NYROCKLA] Blauvelt/Jersey/McLeod/Husson/Frederick ofRocklandCounty NY 1873 Wm N. 1828 & Mary 1830 Albart 1753 Only have 1 Blauvelt, a Sarah md to Jonas Secor. 3. Hi Jan, Are you a member of the Genealogical Society of Rockland County? If not, you should be with your ancestry. The Society has a large dastabase with many Blauvelts anf Van Houtens. I think I have some Blauvelt ancestors. There may also be some on the Phillips-Knapp website, www.tribalpages.com/tribes (I think that is correct--if not let me know) I am the President of the Genealogical Society of Rockland County, and would love to see you at our next meeting, the 4th Tuesday in November. (I am also co-chairperson of the Phillips-Knapp Family Reunion). I actually live in Englewood, Bergen County. 3. Don, In further looking through the documents, I see I have s list of the children and grandchildren of Ambroise Sicard. Many lines follow down from there. It was done before or without a computer, so some is typed and some handwritten. What is your descendancy from Ambroise? I see a few Rockland-sounding names. 3. Hi Don, I found my box of Secor information, and the White Plains line does go back to to Ambroise Sicard, born 1631 in LaRochelle, France. He was the great-grandfather of the Francis Secor who is the furthest back name I have entered on my database to date. I have a lot of notes, articles, and other miscellaneous documents. As of now they are in no particular order other than they are as they were given to me by my cousin (2nd once removed) Bill Seocr. He doesn't have a computer, so we have to communicate by snail mail or telephone. 3. Hello Fellow Listers, I haven't been following the Secor search closely but I am going to add something that may have already been covered-When I was growing up in Bergen County during the 1940's and 50's, we would visit Secor's Farms in Ramsey. There was more than one Secor,as I remember, because I hunted on their farms in the Ramsey,Saddle River,Woodcliff Lake area. My dad Knew the family because he was a Bergen County cop and patrolled Route 17. They had at least one,and maybe more, fruit and vegetable farm stands on Route 17. One I remember distinctly, was at the point where Crescent Avenue crossed over 17. Try the Ramsey area, you might get lucky. I think that Apple Ridge Country Club may be on some Secor Farms land. 3. I have come across one Rockland County Secor who is going to someday get a page to himself on my website, Dutch Door Genealogy. His name is Ambrose Thersander Secor, and he was the son of Mary Haring Demarest and Timothy Secor. Ambrose's dates were 1838 to 1909. Mary Haring Demarest was the daughter of Rev. James D. Demarest and Elizabeth Haring. Rev. Demarest was notable in that he as pastor and 60+ families left the Kakiat True Reformed Church and joined the True Reformed Church in 1824. Daughter Mary married Timothy Secor, who was never even baptized, and gave his son the name of Ambrose Thersander Secor - "Thersander" being a name taken from Homer's "Iliad". Ambrose was of a literary turn of mind, and there is a sample of his work on my website, in the "John Haring, Patriot", section. Ambrose's parents did separate or divorce eventually, since they are living separately in the 1850 census, and Mary and son Ambrose were living with her parents, the pastor and his wife. There's more to Ambrose's story, which I hope to write up some day! Regina Haring http://www.dutchdoorgenealogy.com

    3. My great grandfather William Henry Fish, Jr., had amongst his siblings a sister Henrietta who married Chauncey Tompkins Secor (28 Dec 1844-12 Mar 1913). On my database I have Chauncey traced back to his great grandparents Francis Secor (18 Aug 1732--___) and Sarah Horton. I am sure I have more information; just haven't entered it as we are getting remote from me at this point. I have also traced most of the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of Chauncey Tompkins Secor and Henrietta Fish (always referred to as "Grandma Secor.") I spent Labor Day weekend with a grandchild Alice Secor and her daughter Karen Montemarano, as they drove to and from Watertown with me for the wedding of one of my nieces. When I was in third grade one of my maiden great aunts, Mary Washburn Fish (my maternal grandfather's sister) moved in with us. Being single she was always close to her myriad of cousins. Thus i know some third cousins in that line better than some of my own first cousins. Hence my knowledge of the Secor Family. It also helped that it wasn't until the grandchildren of Chauncey and Grandma Secor that movement out of Westchester began. Several are still there. If I recall correctly, the "Tompkins" that is Chauncey's middle name is named for an ancestor of hius of that surname who was the second Vice President of the United States. I am rearranging my genealogy at the moment, and when I come across the Secor stuff I will keep it out for you. Do you belong to the Rockland County Genealogical Society? If not you should join. At any rate you should attend the next meeting (4th Tuesday in November) at which I will be present (as I am the President). I could copy and bring you a lot of Secor materials. My recollection is that ours do go back to Ambroise Sicord, but i will confirm that. 3. Don, Which Secors are you seeking? Just Rockland or also Westchedster? I have heard that they are related bur know nothing about the Rockland ones. I have a lot of info on the Westchester ones as they married into my Fish Family, and i correspond with several Secor cousins in or from Westchester.
