    3. Not a problem. I'm 54 and I forget sometimes, and I had to look it up and I remembered the name was spelled two different ways. Also, the book is called "So That All May Be Remembered" not Lest we forget as I've been calling it. How's your research going? -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Don Secor Sent: Tuesday, November 21, 2006 10:26 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [NYROCKLA] "Lest We Forget". 3. I honestly don't think they will redo the book. I have posted my family on www.internment.net and you can do the same. If people are searching for someone, the best way is to go to the source, the establishment that caretakes or owns the cemetery (church, town, etc.), after that try the funeral parlor or place where the monuments in that town are made. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Pamela Ward Sent: Monday, November 20, 2006 4:53 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [NYROCKLA] "Lest We Forget". 3. Not sure I quite understand your question. If there is a burial but no stone, the cemetery records should still record the burial. Of course many cemeteries in Rockland COunty are old, and have no extant records. Aside from that problem, the cemetery is only concerned with burying the body. A monument company has to be hired to engrave a headstone. Many people, especially if they were poor, had no headstones erected. Barbara Barbara L. de Mare, Esq. Surnames: WANAMAKER/HEMION/HENION Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YUB.2ACI/2089.2.1 Message Board Post: The same question haunts the Hemmion/Hemion family. An example I have in my records is: John Nelson Hemion m. Sarah Adelia Wanamaker. John Nelson's grandfather David and Hannah Jane's grandfather John D were siblings, yet I have seen John Nelson in other genealogies as John Nelson Hennion married to Sarah Adelia Wanamaker. John and Sarah's wedding was published in the Ramsey, NJ newspaper and his name there also appears as Hennion. One might say that John and Sarah are common names, but given the inclusion of unusual middle names for both of them it is safe to say they are one and the same. Was the Hemions/Henions all one spelling at one time and some fell victim to a name change during one of the English occupations of the colonies as happened to many other names? Did the letters 'nn' get transcribed as 'm' or 'm' as 'nn' while imigrating through England or Holland? All likely possibilities. For my brick wallls, I try to look at all spellings.
