You are both right! As far as I know, the only Bath that is currently called Bath in NY state is indeed in Steuben Co NY. HOWEVER, prior to 1897, there was indeed a Bath in Rensselaer Co NY. It was called Bath-on-the-Hudson, and it was a spa and a village in the town of North Greenbush. In 1897, most of it was absorbed into the newly created city of Rensselaer. On the Rensselaer Co NY GenWeb site at http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyrensse/, you can click on "newspapers" and see a long list of newspapers published in our county and the dates of their coverage. There are also links to libraries, such as the NY State Library and the Troy Public Library, where microfilms of these newspapers are held. Hope this helps!
