    3. I also had a question about Troy and Civil War. My ancestor left Troy and headed down the Hudson to New York City where he enlisted in the Navy. I find so little information about Troy/New York in regards to the Navy during the civil war. Was it common for those who wanted to join the Navy to go all the way to New York City?
