http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyrensse/pension4.htm Rensselaer County Pension Roll of 1885 [among others listed] Porter, Jane E. - Troy - widow - $8.00 - Dec. 1866 (054,145) Porter, Lucy - Troy - widow - $8.00 - Dec. 1870 (044,144) Now I see the possible problem - Lucy is probably the widow of Calvin Porter who died in 1907 and NARA told me that he is 054, 145 so is Jane, Widow of Claudius 044,144 - are the numbers on the website reversed or is NARA reversed or neither???? We'll soon find out! Gee Maybe Jane and Lucy were sisters-in-law - wouldn't that be a rip! Co. Web site noted above - if (054,145) belongs to Calvin Porter who died in 1907 then what is the certificate number for Claudius Porter(widow Jane E. Porter - maiden name Barton]?????? I certainly was not going to resend for Calvin's file! and dat's all I know folks! No I don't believe I have tried the NYS Civil War Archives Records. I sent to NARA Wash. DC and they returned the paperwork to me saying no such record found or something like this. I'm on the trail of this now but still have to dig out the paper work that was returned to me from NARA. Well you made me dig. . . . . . . . I sent to NARA (Wash. DC) on FORM NATF 85 - this was back on Jan. 4, 2005 asking for Full Pension file for Porter, Claudius H. S. -Civil War-NY-Co. B 169th Reg. - Private b. abt. 1832 Mass(?) d. abt. 1864-1866 place unknown - widow claimant - Jane E. Porter - maiden name Barton (054,145)- under place where veteran lived after service I put - if he returned from the War, probably Troy, Renss. Co., NY and the form that was returned & there was a check in the box next to this statement "We did not locate a file which matches exactly the information that you provided, we did locate a pension application file for WC 54,145 for a soldier named Porter, Calvin who served in Co. B. 125th inf for the Civil War. He was b. Troy, Renss Co. NY and died Feb. 1, 1907. If this is your subject, please fill out the enclosed NATF FORM and resubmit." [dated Feb. 1, 2005] I did not resubmit. Do you have his pension file - does it refer at all or give any information in regard to his wife and her pension etc. Thank You again.
