Hello, Pat ~ I think we've traded messages before, but I want to thank you particularly for this one. Oddly, I had a death date for George exactly one year later (September 18, 1824), so it appears there's a transcription error floating around somewhere in the old records. (He's often listed as George Odle, but as he was quite probably illiterate, it's no surprise that many people often spelled that surname as they thought he'd spoken it.) A George Odell is listed in 'New York In The Revolution,' and I'd give a great deal to find out if it was him, or just a cousin. His father Joseph Odell (junior) apparently served down in Dutchess County. If you know of some genealogist who's particularly adept at tracing Revolutionary War lineages, I'd like to speak with him or her. (In the past, I worked with Dennis Marr of Troy, who's very good at it...) Thank you again for your kindness! ~ David O'Dell in Fairport, NY ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, April 08, 2006 10:02 PM Subject: Re: [Rensselaer] ROLL CALL: ODELL, O'DELL etc. Hi George Odel (Odell/O'dell) Died in Little Hoosack (Berlin NY) Rensselaer County on September 18th 1823.
