Looking into families allied with the SEE surname in Schodack NY I found the following. If someone working on VAN DYKE can confirm the line or correct it I'd be grateful. Arent VAN DYKE (son of Louwrenz Van Dyke and Maria Van der Poel) and Catherine VAN BUREN (daug of Maas and Catherine Van Buren) have a daug Catherine born about 1787. I believe it is this same Catherine VAN DYKE that md. John A. WHITBECK (acc. to Barb Jeffries' web site s/o Andries Whitbeck and Dirckje Vosburgh). Their daughter Margaret WHITBECK b 31 Dec 1805 marries Bartholomaus Smith, someone that there seems to be little info on except that he was b.c. 1801. Their son William James SMITH b.c. 1839 marries Martha Ann SEE, d/o John See and Anna GARDINIER. I am not sure whether I've placed Catherine Van Dyke correctly, so thanks if you can help. David See
