Hi Melodee, My wife was born and raised on Hidley Road in Wynantskill ,Rens.County, NY. She lived less than a quarter mile from the Hidley family homestead after whom the road is named and knows/knew many of them very well. She is in fact related [shirttail] to them. The relationship is thru a Bonesteel who married a Van Buren who married a Hidley, if I remember right. I do know Catherine Elizabeth Hidley, born 29 Jan 1834, married Benjamin Van Buren. My wife's mother was a Bonesteel. Last Fall we were hiking in the hills acrossed the road from the Hidley homestead, and ran acrossed an old abandoned Hidley family cemetery with about 20 or 25 gravestones in it. I took pictures and will look up what names were there. It is listed as Hideley Cemetery on the NY, Rensselaer County GEN WEB site and there are a lot of Hidley/Hideley's listed in various cemeterys in the County. Your [I think] Joseph H., died 28 Sept 1872, age 42 and wife Carolina M.,died 29 Dec 1870, age33 are buried in the Hillside Cemetery Poestenkill, along with daughter Mary who died 18 Feb 1863 at age 4 years. There are many Hidley's listed in the Federal and New York State census records for Rensselaer County if you have access to them. If not, let the list know and we will do some lookups for you. Please include as much information as possible ie: dates, where born, living in what town, etc. Will get back to you with picture information after I locate them.
