Rich I am reading your post and just coincidental that the Ireland Cemetary list has some talk now of Walsh. Don't know if you are on that list...Kris -----Original Message----- From: Richard Shea <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Fri, 15 Jul 2005 00:34:15 -0400 Subject: [Rensselaer] Walsh/Canary Jan, I'm not sure if we haven't corresponded before but I am somewhat desparate to find siblings for my great-grandfather Richard Walsh, son of John and Mary (Burke) Walsh. That is one of three reasons I am entering this thread; the second is that my father mentioned Richard Walsh's daughter Mary F. Walsh having been married or engaged to a Canary. The Walsh family lived originally on Chestnut Street in Troy which I find was near Prospect Park and then children John Frederick, Mary and Sarah moved to 142 Pawling Avenue, next to thier sister Margaret L. Walsh Shea after thier father's death. Sarah A. Walsh eventually married Ira Dustin of Mechanicville but upon his death moved back to Pawling Ave. The third reason being there was also a first son named James who became a priest serving in Troy, Hudson and died in Newburgh, NY. Of course James is not an unusual name with Walsh or any Irish family. Despite a large number of Walshs in Troy I haven't been able to find a connection to any. The other problem I have found in that Richard Walsh was listed in the 1870 and 1880 Fed Census of Troy and on his enlistment papers with the 1st Delaware Infantry as Richard Welch. He was naturalized in Massachusetts in 1853 where I believe he met and married his wife, Mary Bridget Fitzgerald, about 1865. If you can find any connections or leads I would be greatly indebted.
