    1. Help Needed With 1855 / 65 Census Wards - Troy

    3. Hello Listers: I'm having difficulty with the wards in the 1855 and 1865 NY State Census for Troy, and was hoping someone would have some information for me. I've had both films on rental for a while now, and expected to find my ancestors in the 4th Ward for at least 1 of the 2 state census years. They were there at the time, and are listed in the 4th Ward of the Village of W. Troy in the 1860 federal. I have looked at parts of all wards in the 1865, and each ward is for the City of Troy. Do you know if this would include, or is the same as the Village of W. Troy in the 1860? Also, were the same wards used for 1860 as were used for the 1855 or 1865? Did the boundaries change? I can't locate mine in the 4th ward for either state census, and the 1855 is a mess. (If you've looked at that film, you know what I mean - it's almost illegible.) Any guidance anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated. I don't seem to be able to find any detailed ward information for the area online. Best Wishes, Judy Herbert Researching Hoare, Hogan & Kennelly in Troy.
