    3. Hi Listers, My huge part of my brick wall has finally come down! I found my Gray (Indexed as Goay) family in the 1850 census in West Troy! The problem is that the census page has no street name. I am hoping to find the nearest Catholic Church next. I have had some help on the Albany list searching for them in the city directory but nothing has come up. According to this helpful person, she thinks my next best bet would be a Troy directory. See explanation below: "At any rate, I think you need the Troy list. I have the 1859 Albany and Troy directories on CD. West Troy is at the back of the 1859 Troy directory. I am pretty sure that some of the smaller towns were sometimes in the back of the Albany books, and other times in the back of the Troy books. This happens with Cohoes also. Doesn't matter that they were in Albany COUNTY." Unfortunately she does not have the 1849-1850 city directory. If there is anyone on the list that can help me I would greatly appreciate it. Here is what the West Troy census for 1850 states: Name:William Goay (Gray) Age:45 Estimated birth year:abt 1805 Birth place:Ireland Gender:Male Home in 1850 (City,County,State):West Troy, Albany, New York Image Source: Year: 1850; Census Place: West Troy, Albany, New York; Roll: M432_474; Page: 96; Image: 39. William, 45, Laborer, born Ireland Ellen, 45, born Ireland Edward, 14, born NY John, 7, born NY James, 5, born NY Thomas, 3, born NY Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me push down a few more bricks so I can lead my research on the correct path to Ireland! 3. Chris, I'm not sure if you had access to a copy of the whole page of the original census record where you found your Grey. Often, the census enumerator wrote tee name of the street on the edge of the page, parallel to the page edge, and then wrote the numbers of each house as he visited it in the columns. I know I found a few of the addresses of my relatives that way. Hope this helps. Pat
