    1. Re: [NYRENSSE] Final 1875 NYS Troy Census report
    2. Is there any way to see the entire listing for one household, if more than one surname is involved? Marsha, I know a way to do it.? It isn't elegant, and it's kind of tedious -- but then, show me a genealogist who doesn't do tedious, and I'll show you a chart with only three generations on it! My way of doing it (and if somebody has a better idea, PLEASE tell us!) is to copy each of the alphabetical indexes for a particular ward, and paste them into a spreadsheet program, such as Excel, then sort by the district, dwelling, and family. If your ancestor is in Ward 2, for example, you would copy all the data in the first alpha break-out (Adams thru Bowers) and paste it into a blank spreadsheet.? Then you would copy all the data in the second alpha break-out (Bodwiditch to Coffey) and paste that in beginning with the first blank cells BELOW the data you've already pasted, being careful that the fields line up appropriately with the earlier data.? And so on until it's all pasted in.? Depending on how much memory you have, you might need to break it up into spreadsheets that hold just a few break-outs each. Then, in Excel, go to DATA --> Sort --> and have it sort first by District, then by Dwelling, then by family.? This will bring together everybody in the household that's in that spreadsheet. I hope that makes sense.? Good luck! For example, in Ward 6 West, dwelling 219, family 328, I find: MADDIGAN, Elisa, age 28, daughter and her three children (husband evidently died even earlier than I realized). If I didn't already know her maiden name, how would I find out that she was living with her (presumably widowed) mother, Isabella LAHEY and a brother John? Many thanks. --- Pat Connors <nymets11@pacbell.net> wrote: > I am happy to say the whole alphabetic index for this census is now > online and the project is completely online (Troy section of my website, > url under my name). 1. [NYRENSSE] Prayer cards - BUTLER, JACKSON, MILLER, MOLAN
    2. Lynn Grice
    3. In going through the belongings of my late aunt, Mary Agnes Carey, I have found several prayer cards for people who are not related to my family. I suspect most of the deceased lived in South Troy at one time. If anyone recognizes these names and would like to have the prayer card, please write me off-list and I will gladly mail it to you. Remember to include your mailing address!
