Waugh, of 1407 Hutton St. a retired Troy fireman, died yesterday after a lingering illness. Mr. Waugh had been retired for several years. He was one of the fireman injured when a fire and explosion destroyed the Mohican Store on River St. at Franklin Square on Apr. 18, 1917. Three of Mr. Waugh's fellow fireman were killed in the blast and several others were injured. Mr. Waugh was born in the South end but had been a resident of the Beman Park section for 30 years. He was the son of the late Henry and Mary Waugh. Mr. Waugh was a member of the Osgood Steamer Co.# 3 and he had responded with his company to the Mohican fire where he received injuries which later caused him to be retired. He had been a volunteer fireman for a number of years before becoming a member of the fire department. He was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle's Church. Mr. Waugh was the husband of the late Nonie Dugan Waugh. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Charles E. Brodrib of Troy, with whom he made his home in recent years. The funeral will be Monday at 9 from the J.W. Burns'Sons, Inc Fifth Avenue Funeral Chapel and at 9:30 from St. Paul the Apostle Church where a requiem high mass will be celebrated.
