These patterns come down ONLY from father to son in YDna tests. so follow that single genealogical line ONLY. If someone with a similar pattern doesn't have the right surname, MUCH more research is needed to see if there is a non-paternal event that can be found. Usually a dissimilar surname eliminates that match. Jeff
