thinking of him as a brother, have you traced him through earlier census'? I would...then see if he had a sister about the right age (even off by 10 years, it happens), my grandma said that they didn't have good records back then and often people either couldn't, or didn't want to, remember their ages. so in a way, it makes sense, what women wants to age?
