    3. I have a question about B Cs. If in civil court records B Cs weren't required until 1881 would church records be the place to look for Baptismal Records giving the date of birth? When did the city of Troy require the recording of birth? The time frame I am interested in is the 1840s. 3. Emily, 1847 to 1850/51 was the only previous time period when births were required to be recorded. In that time period, it was school districts which were required to record births. Most of those records have been lost by now, but Rensselaer Co. had more preserved than for most counties. I don't know if Troy preserved such records. 3. Cliff, I was interested in your reply to Emily. I have been searching for a long time for a baptismal record for Marie Elodie Mailhot (Mayotte), born September 3, 1850, in Troy. (Parents might be Francois or Francis and Mary or Marie). I have had no luck with various churches in the area. Would you know how I could go about accessing these school district records to see if perhaps she is there? I live in Canada. Thank you, Bonnie >From: Cliff Lamere <clifflamere@nycap.rr.com> >Reply-To: nyrensse@rootsweb.com >To: nyrensse@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [NYRENSSE] GOEWEY b. 3. Bonnie, I don't know if Troy ever collected them or preserved them. I can only suggest that you contact the Rensselaer Co. Historical Society and the Rensselaer County Clerk. Troy Public Library (main branch) has a genealogy room with microfilms of other censuses. Sorry that I can't be more helpful.
