Hi! I'm new to the list, and was hoping someone might be able to help. My gr-gr-gr-grandparents passed through Troy between living in Quebec and living in Joliet, and two of their sons were born there. I know the family was Irish Catholic, so I didn't know if there might be baptismal records for the boys, or if the county might have kept birth records that early. The two births I'm hoping to find are: Andrew Wallace b. about 1845 James Wallace b. about 1846 Their parents were Thomas Wallace and Esther Hagerty. Thomas and Esther were originally Ireland (near Mullingar, if family lore holds true), but left either together or separately. Thomas' signature appears on a baptism and a marriage in Quebec in January, 1829, but their oldest son (Thomas, Jr.) was born in Ireland about 1829 (according to Census information). There were seven children born and baptized Catholic in Quebec, and I've been able to find their births (and one death) in the Drouin collection online. The last one born in Quebec was my gr-gr-grandfather, Peter Hagerty Wallace, he was baptized on 11 Aug 1843, and is listed in the Eastern Townships missionary register in the Drouin images on Ancestry. My understanding is that Andrew and James were born in Troy, NY, before the family moved on to Joliet, Illinois. The youngest two children were born in Joliet, and the family was listed in Joliet in the 1850 Census. According to the Census Elizabeth (or Lizzie) was born in Illinois about 1847.
