Does anyone in Rensselaer County have a record of where Phineas Stewart owned land in the Petersburg area? Word has it that he gave all of his sons land, and they all sold out and moved west except Terry, Athol, and Latham. I am also looking to find out just how Terry got his land. I can prove in the Court House that he had land, and sold it, but no where can I find out just how he got it. Need this information for the DAR. Also this Terry married a girl by the name of Betsey Nichols. In the 1800 census it shows a John Nichols living near the land that Phineas owned. Might be possible that Terry married the daughter of this John We could use some proof of their marriage, and just how Terry got his land, and just where Phineas owned his land. Also states in the Court House that Phineas died, left no will,and his oldest son Elias disposed of the land, but there is no mention of the children of Phineas. Need some help if I can get it.
