Looking for info. on Benway (possibly Benoit) and Lovett My g.g.grandfather, George Henry Lovett was born in Troy, NY May 13, 1852. His father's name was Ulysses. I believe his mother's name was Eliza, but I do not know for sure. Ulysses placed George in the Troy Orphan Asylum where he remained from 1861-1863. The dates coincide with the end of the Civil War, although I do not know if Ulysses was in the war or not, although he never returned for his son. In 1863 (at age 13 or 15) George Henry Lovett was indentured out to a George Sheldon of Willsboro, NY. George Lovett eventually married Mary Evelyn Pratt b. April 29, 1858 in Lewis,NY. Mary was the daughter of William Pratt and Lillian Crosset. George and Mary Lovett had several children including my great grandmother Anna Elizabeth Lovett b. May 13, 1888. George and Mary Lovett had several children including my great grandmother Anna Elizabeth Lovett b. May 13, 1888 in Willsboro. The other children were:George Edward b.1877, Mary Agnes b.1880, William Oscar b.1883, Emma Susan b. 1885, then Anna Elizabeth b. 1888, Victor Raymond b. 1891, Harry Herman b. 1894 and Minnie Jame b. 1897. Anna Elizabeth married John Benway Jr. the son of John Benway and Delia?. My guess is that Anna and John may have been married in 1902., probably in a Catholic, possibly in the St. Philip of Jesus Church in Willsboro where she was baptised on Oct. 30, 1902. Could this have been their wedding day? Anna and John had 12 children: Wyman, Herwood, Wallace, George Edward, David, Phillip, Kenneth, Vewrnon, Eugene, Norman, Elizabeth and Naomi. My grandfather was David Benway who was born in Willsboro on July 21, 1909. Any info on the Lovett or Benway family would be greatly appreciated. Would love to share info. Thank you so much. Jackie in Connecticut.
