We are traveling to Schenectady and Rensselaer Counties July 10-12 or thereabouts. We have a little flexibility on dates. I have ancestors from these counties and want to make good use of my research time. I have very thoroughly researched on-line the info. on the web sites for these counties as well as Saratoga, Albany, Schoharie, and Montgomery counties. I have also viewed as many books as are available at local libraries here and I have ordered and viewed films that might be relevant from the FHC library. Now, I need to be there! On a previous trip, when I was more of an unprepared novice, we visited the Historical Society in Troy, then traveled to Schenectady to find the Historical Society there closed. This time I will plan much better, but I need advice as to the best places to do the research. I have heard that the public library in Troy is good and will also get to the Historical Society in Schenectady when it is open. Also, I assume it would be wise to visit the State Historical Library in Albany. Are these all good plans? Also, where else would it be wise to visit? Any other advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Sharon Foley
