    1. [NYRENSSE] Quackenbush, Charles' murder mystery

    3. Charles Quackenbush is the brother of my great great grandmother. He was murdered in Johnsonville, NY sometime between February and March of 1918. He was buried in North Adams, MA on April 16, 1918. I am trying to figure out exactly when he died and locate his obituary. A fellow web volunteer told me that he died on March 18, 1918. I wrote to North Adams for his obit, but they could not find it. They did find his burial notice which indicated that he had been murdered two months prior, leading me to believe that he may have died in February of 1918. His burial notice was in the paper in North Adams because his body was transported to North Adams for burial. First, he was placed in the vault at Hillside Cemetery (ground probably too frozen to bury at time) and then buried in Southview Cemetery in North Adams. His burial received press because he was a former resident of North Adams and because he was murdered. 1. Does anyone else have info on Charles? 2. If not, does anyone know how I go about getting an obit from Johnsonville when I have a range of two months time? Thanks for your help. Holly
