    3. I have to reply to the whole list with my excitement - this what genealogy is all about, and especially the wide community we are because of the internet! I have been looking for Carroll family information for some time now and have posted my inquiries on the Carroll family list. I subscribe to this list for all the pointers to the geographic sources necessary since they were from Rensselaer County. Imagine my surprise as I read this posting in my mail this morning!!! I will write to Jim under separate cover, but Charles Carroll was my great-grandfather and lived most of his life in Vermont and Massachusetts, settling (and buried in) Rowe, Massachusetts. His youngest daughter was my grandmother, her only daughter my mother (Thomas>Robert>Charles>Jessie>Phyllis>me!) I have Robert's pension files and there are no parents listed, but an obscure note from another family member's files mentioned Thomas and *Elizabeth* as parents. I found them in cemetary records and wrote to the town clerk only to be informed their records start later than these deaths and I need to write to the state - something I have not yet done. Anyway - thank you all for sharing for keeping this list alive!
