Thanks everyone for your guidance. I neglected to mention that in 1800 they were listed in the Petersburgh census, and that's where they remainto this day. I believe that the people never moved, just the state lines. Now, is there a record of Land Grants that would help me pinpoint the place? The name is Grogan, listed as Grovin in the 1800 census. I understand that there were ownership conflicts between the Dutch settlers and the "English" who came after, is there a record of this? Thanks again y'all, you've been most helpful. Eve
