I have 2 birth certificates for relatives from the late 1800s who were born in Castleton, NY. Their mother was also born in Castleton but their father was born in Kopeck (no state listed) and on the other birth certiciate, it's listed as Copeck. I've done numerous internet searches and can't locate any town by that name. Can anyone help? I'd like to get this man's birth certificate! Mary, It sounds to me like it could be Copake in Columbia Co., which is 39 miles to the southeast on my map. Columbia Co. is the adjoining county to the south.
