Agnes Cloninger and I have collaborated on another webpage of will abstracts (proved 1685-1786) that were filed in New York City. This time it is the Town of Claverack in Columbia Co., NY. There are 30 will abstracts in all. The index I created contains all names mentioned in every abstract, which comes to 479 names. Click on any name to go to the abstract of the appropriate will. My hat is off to Agnes for her tireless effort. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~clifflamere/Wills/Wills-Claverack.htm Cliff
I have an unusual situation. I was born at Samaritan Hospital in Troy in 1967. When I was around two, my parents had my name legally changed. I know that if I write the county I can get a certified copy of my birth certificate with my current name. What I want to know is if it would be possible to get some "official" proof of my original name. [I have family cards signed with my original name.] Does anyone know who I would contact for this type of information in Rensselaer Co.? V.
