    1. [Rensselaer] City Directories & Passports
    2. Hello, I have been tracking allied relatives through the Troy City Directories and have run across an entry that I've never seen before. Emil(father) and Martha(daughter) both lived in Watervliet(Albany Co) and worked in Troy, NY(Renss Co.). I found them through most of the 1890's. Then in 1898, after Emil's name it say "removed from city". I am assuming that means that he left the area as I have check Cohoes, Green Island, Watertown, Landsburgh, etc. The in the 1899 Troy Directory, after Matha's name it says "removed to Hamburg, Germany." Am I correct in my assumption that they both left because of the word "removed"?? I checked the 1892 Albany Co census and both are listed as "citizen." I also checked the 1900 NYS soundex to see if I could find either of them - they weren't listed. Because both are listed as citizens (both were born in Germany) - Would they need a passport to leave the country? If so, where would I look to find their passport applications? Thank You, Sue Dsjk2716@aol.com
