Hi fellow listers, I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me on two diseases that I have found mentioned in letters I have, dating the 1840's. One fellow mentions that he has had bouts of Cointer fever, and another mentions Tiler grip. Having a sense of wanting to know the ailments along with the good news of my ancestors, I just have to know what they suffered from. I also have a letter where disease of the lungs was mentioned to the point where the fellow went into fits and coughed up blood. Would this be pneumonia...he did recouperate with the help of a N.Y. doctor. Any help would be appreciated. PS...I went onto a search engine and a few sites listed under "ancient diseases" and didn't find answers to my queries.
