> "DIES AT 83--George R. Ainsworth, former president of Phillip 'Thomas Sons > Lumber Co., died yesterday at his home after a long illness. He was active > in local civic organizations, retiring from his position as lumber company > president in 1944." > I found this newspaper clipping in with some family information at my > grandmother's house. I don't know what paper this comes from, as all I have is the clipping along with a picture of Mr. Ainsworth. There was a Grace Abbott (daughter of Dr. James K. Abbott) who married an Ainsworth, probably in New York. I'm trying to > find out if there is a connection here. As an addendum to this earlier message, on the back of the newpaper clipping there is an article discussing discussing construction bids for building the inagural platform on the Capitol steps for the swearing in of either Dwight Eisenhower or Adlai Stevenson. This is dated Sept. 2, and puts the time frame somewhere between 1952 and 1956. I thought perhaps these dates would help someone recognize the George R. Ainsworth in the article.
