    3. As I sit here typing these deaths, I can't help from being affected by the information. To see children dying of teething, croup, scarlet fever, sometimes more than one in a family is heart wrenching, not to mention the young woman dying with her twin babies during childbirth. Also the Civil War deaths are moving. It is hard to picture our soldiers dying in southern prisons of starvation, or having limbs amputated right on the battlefield. I visited Gettysburg this summer for the first time and these deaths are looking very vivid. I guess that is why I wanted to share this information with everyone. Can someone please tell what consumption is? So many immigrants in their 20s seem to die of it. Aren't we lucky we have found so many causes of these illness and are now able to be innoculated against them? -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com
