    1. [Rensselaer] Wynantskill Reformed Protestant Dutch church

    3. Hello Listers, I was looking at the baptism records of the Wynantskill Reformed Protestant Dutch church 1794-1867 on the Rensselaer Co genweb site. I have some questions about this church. 1. Does this church still exist? What is the address and phone number? 2. If the church doesn't exist, is there a Family History Center that would have these records? 3. Where is Wynantskill from Troy? 4. Are there records prior to 1794? Thank you for your help. Sincerely, Lisa Woodward Freeport, Illinois wlwoodward@juno.com

    3. Lisa, Wynantskill is on the southern edge of Troy. Arthur C.M. Kelly transcribed and published bp. and mg. records for 1794-1899. The church apparently formed in 1794, because that is the first year for which the church had a pastor according to Kelly. The church still exists. You should be able to find it by searching for Wynantskill in a list of 980 North American Reformed Churches on my website. They are listed under "Churches". http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~clifflamere/ The church may not have the earliest records any longer. Most of the early records have been sent to New Brunswick, NJ (a seminary?) for safe keeping against fires and other dangers. They may be available on microfilm there. LDS has the records microfilmed. Barb Baxter has them listed on her site. The ones microfilmed were 1794-1867. http://www.pinehurst.net/genealogy/rensselaer/search/rensselaer.htm Cliff Wes--Lisa Woodward wrote: > Hello Listers, > I was looking at the baptism records of the Wynantskill Reformed > Protestant Dutch church 1794-1867 on the Rensselaer Co genweb site.
