    3. The address for the Rensselaer County Historical Society is: 57 Second Street, Troy, NY 12180. Their phone is: (518) 272-7232. They also have a website: http://www.rchsonline.org/ You may want to start your inquiries with the Lansingburgh Historical Society, if you haven't consulted them already. Their mailing address is: P.O. Box 219, Troy NY 12182. Street Address: 2 114th Street. Troy, NY 12182. Their phone is: (518) 235-3501. They're not as large or well staffed an operation so they may only be open certain days, but they may also have exactly what you're looking for or even know of your ancestor right away since their area of emphasis is so much narrower than the RCHS. I can't offer any more assistance except that Mahlon Taylor is a prominent name in early Troy history, being the operator of one of the first mills on the Poestenkill which was the site of many of the industries that were instrumental in Troy's development as the seat of the early American Industrial Revolution. If he turns out to be an ancestor...well, he's a significant early figure in Troy history.... Good luck! Marianne Briggs mbriggs@nycap.rr.com
