Hello, Can anyone tell me if New York had an 1855 state census done? If so, does anyone have access to it? Thanks, Jackie
Yes, New York State conducted a 1855 state census. I just viewed it for Troy at my local LDS Family History Library, film # 0,549,885 This census has interesting info, besides listing all the family members and their ages, it also asks what county of NY or other state or country they were born in, whether they are married or widowed, number of years residing in city/town, occupation, whether they are native, naturalized or alien American. There is no index that I know of for this census nor did I find page numbers, so if you are asking for a lookup from someone, it would be difficult unless you have the ward number and the dwelling and family numbers. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com

They definitely had a census and there are copies in the State Library in Albany and in the various counties involved, but I dont think it is online anywhere.
