Hello Listers, A couple questions here. First, I am reading an obituary for my ggrandfather (dod: Dec. 17, 1916) and see that he was a member of the Married Men's Sodality. Not sure if this was connected to St. Joe's Church or not (which is where he attended). Second, the article says that he held various positions such as Alderman, School Commissioner (during Mayor Whelan's admin.), rep. of 9th ward Common Council (1893), and was connected with the Dept. of Charities and Correction (during Mayor Conway's admin.). Also was master plumber at D&H RR. Would anyone know where I could start searching for any records that might yield more info. on this individual? Or if records might even exist? What was the Dept. of Charities and Correction? Last, one article lists the pallbearers as: Thomas. H. MCDONOUGH, John MALONEY, Peter ROSENBERGER, Patrick HOGAN, John FITZGERALD, Henry COTE, William DWYER, and John J. HEALY. Do any of these names ring a bell with anyone? I have a picture of my ggrandfather with a few other men...all who are unidentified except for one...Henry COTE. I'd love to identify the others in this picture, and perhaps that will give me a clue as to the purpose it was taken (i.e. club picture, etc.). Anyone who is researching the above names, please let me know and I will forward you a scanned copy of my picture. Perhaps you can identify an ancestor? Thanks, Brooke
