I got some bad news on Saturday. I received a letter from City Hall (Dept. of Vital Stats) in Troy. They sent back my letter of request for my GGgranfather's and my GGUncle's birth certificates, along with a note saying they do not have records prior to November of 1880. I don't know which Catholic Church they belonged to. Is there anywhere else I can find this info? I am looking for an 1842 and an 1848 birth certificate.
