    1. [Rensselaer] Troy city burial vs. death records
    2. bmyers
    3. Hello, I stumbled upon a possible record that I never knew existed this weekend. While looking at a FHC microfilm roll that was filmed from some books found in the Troy library, the author makes note that, "the 1830's-1891 death [and] burial records for Troy, NY have been microfilmed by the Gen. Society of Utah as of Oct. 1955." The note also says to chech the burial records of the Dept. of Vital Statistics, and that these original books are stored as of 1976 in the office of Recreation, City Hall, 3rd floor. I have forms from the Dept. of Vital Stats., and am about to request death records. The employees there only mentioned death records, not burial records. From the above author's note, it seems like two distinct records exist, and that the burial records could offer valuable genealogical information. Has anyone here researched burial permit records? How can I request them from the Dept. of Vital Stats.? What information do I need to request them other than that provided for death certs.? In advance, your response is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Brooke Myers
