Hello All, Since I got a lot of responses regarding the Cornell website with directories and such, I thought I would post this to the list so that everyone can get it at once. GOTO: <http://cdl.library.cornell.edu/moa/> At the top left of the page click on "search" (both books and journals) Type in "New York" Click on the line item that has the "books" listed. Click on #5, John Warner Barber: Click on "special index" (Be sure to look around in here! There is so much wonderful information!) Type in Page# 8 (this is the listing of counties, townships and villages) Type in Page#294. This is the first page of the history of Rensselaer with Troy info to follow. FOR THE 1870 BUSINESS DIRECTORY AND GAZETTE FOR THE ENTIRE STATE OF NEW YORK (Troy directions below) At the search engine, type in "New York State" (both books and journals) Click on #5 Boyd's business directory and gazetter for 1870 Click on Table of Contents Type in Page #530 You will see the first page of the directory-Heading- "Troy, Rennselaer county The pages to follow after the introduction about Rennselaer County will have the alphabetical city directory. I have other directions to books, articles, etc. but I think once you get in there you will get the hang of it you will have no problem looking around and locating things. I hope this helps.
